GVC10-04 Evaluations (USA)
Name: Jenny Kim
What did you learn about your partners?
I learned about my partners they are really kind and try to work together as a group.
What did you learn about yourself and your own work habits?
I learned about my self that I am good at following instructions on composer and I am rubbish at scratch that I’ll have to improve my scratch skills. I learned about my work habits that I always want to finish something if I started it but I aways don’t because I always forget what I was going to do – that is how I always end up with a project unless if it’s really important.
How well do you think you did as a collaborative group?
I think I did quite well as a collaborative group. I have done 2 GVC projects, my friend and I checked each other’s work and see if there are some things that we have to put to improve the projects. So I think all 3 groups have done well, discussed what we are going to do and get to know each other.
Would you do something like this again (why/why not)?
Yes. I would love to do something like this again because I love working as groups and put together each other’s work. Because it looks really good and everytime I finish some projects with some other groups it feels really good, proud of my self, and also as I do projects I would be able to do know some other friends and improve my skills.
What changes would you make if you ran things?
I would like to change the website that we contact so that we can have more fun just by going on the website and discuss more about our projects.

What did you learn about your partners?
I started this project later than the others in my class so I didn’t really learn very much about them.
What did you learn about yourself and your own work habits?
I learnt more about dressage (a horseback riding discipline), and what you need to do to be able to get into competitions and what it is like.
How well do you think you did as a collaborative group?
Because I came late I didn’t really get a chance to work with my class.
Would you do something like this again (why/why not)?
Yes, I found it very fun (especially the interview part), and I am looking forward to be able to start riding in competitions.
What changes would you make if you ran things?
I would try to communicate a little bit more (e.g. Via Skype), and to have more categories for which to make our projects.

What did you learn about your partners?
i learned that America school likes us because in nicenet they logged mine many times. so we could get along each other very well. and Indian school,they are really clever. and they also really good at introduce their self well.and it was really fun with them.such as talking online and share thing with them.and i lerned that if school get along each other well, it ‘s fun to do ict more.
What did you learn about yourself and your own work habits?
what i leared myself is to design scratch. because as connected with my term work so that helped be to improve my scratch skills and as i talk on online that helped me to improve and made better with my typing.so that i could type fast more.and i could able to design introduce myself to school india and in US.
How well do you think you did as a collaborative group?
it was really fun with them.such as talking online and share thing with them. And the collaborate work is helped me to get the attitude of helping people generously.and i could know about them better way and it’s good to keep the collaborative work with the other school.
Would you do something like this again (why/why not)?
I would do it something like GVC program because it helps you to use lots of program in computer .and able to do things in ict if you get ability to do that.so it develop lots of ict skills and it’s fun to use scratch work with doing GVC and other things that you can work on ict. it helps.
What changes would you make if you ran things?
I would make something that with connected scratch work.so we could share games or quiz in scratch website. and also desgn what we interesting in our life and decorate the things and type into it.and also it could be fun if you design our school website with ourselves and connct with many many schools

What did you learn about your partners?
Well lots other people like spaghetti and football just like me. (Except for the tiny detail that I’m a total zero when it comes to football and they are probably great at it)
What did you learn about yourself and your own work habits?
I find it really easy to waste time in ICT. And that when I grow up I will not get a job as an ICT teacher because it would take me a few thousand years to understand computers. And that I’m not patient. But on the other hand I’m great at jokes. And I’m a terrible speller. And that I like the chiller font style. But I always enjoy working with Mr. Hellam.
How well do you think you did as a collaborative group?
If someone wishes to say otherwise let me know but I think that I did a pretty good job in ICT as part of a group.
Would you do something like this again (why/why not)?
I hope not because for me it’s hard to work in group but if I had to I would try hard at this again.
What changes would you make if you ran things?
Well it’s pretty unlikely for me to run things (because I can’t imagine myself as the person who ran things) but I would try to make people type quicker to be done quicker.

What did you learn about your partners?
About the partners in my school? I learned people’s different skills and weaknesses. While at the other schools I simply learned about other people. I am from the states, so I didn’t learn very much about where they lived, but, I love meeting new people. So it was fun. The Indian school only got on Nicenet at the very end, so we didn’t communicate very much with them. But it was fun to read the other people’s introductions.
What did you learn about yourself and your own work habits?
My original design for my GVC project was that Flipper the whale would take you to about 5 different locations. He would show you the places, give you about 4 quick facts and you would leave. But, I couldn’t do it in time, so I ended up shortening it drastically. Part of the reason it was taking so long was my choice of style. Claymation. Of course I didn’t have the clay things and move them a little bit, take a picture, move them a little bit, take a picture, and so on and so on. I took one picture; them edited it and animated it. I over-estimated.
Also I found out that I am quite a good sculptor of whales. But mainly I found out that I am quite good at Scratch. It is quite a simple program, and although I need help once in a while, I can cope pretty well on my own.
How well do you think you did as a collaborative group?
In my school I think we worked quite well together. A couple times I had some people come up to me and ask for help with some Scratch work. And I can’t count how many times I asked the person sitting beside me for help. No matter whom it was. You could often see people trying out other people’s projects. It helped us evaluate them, see how good they where. Having someone try it and make suggestions, and tell you what was good or not.
Would you do something like this again (why/why not)?
If I had the chance, I think I would do it again. In 2 or 3 years time when I had more skills on the computer. I think that if I was to try it again and make more realistic goals, I think it would really improve my project.
What changes would you make if you ran things?
If I was to make changes to the way the GVC organization was run, I think my first priority would be making a date you have to be on Nicenet. The Indian school got on only at the very end, so it was a bit of e hassle explaining everything to them at last minute and signing them up for something. Also I would try to make the school groups in the same time zone. So the different groups could have an immediate conversation on Nicenet, and maybe even Skype/video Skype each other. Also I would make the groups only 2 schools. Also I would make the Nicenet website so you could upload pictures and videos. And I would give the schools a topic. For instance
v 2012- Global warming
v 2013- Oceans
v 2014- Brazil
And so on and so forth. So you would have a more organized hand in from the schools.

What did you learn about your partners?
They are not from Czech republic, some of them are younger than us.
What did you learn about yourself and your own work habits?
That I learned some new tricks that I can use on computers.
How well do you think you did as a collaborative group?
We didn’t really talk to the other schools but in are school we worked pretty well we tested each other’s scratch games.
Would you do something like this again (why/why not)?
I wouldn’t because I’m not good at using composer I find it too hard.
What changes would you make if you ran things?
I would like it more if we made a website of only games. And less writing only games.

What did you learn about your partners?
Some like soccer and some like tacos and ice cream. Some live in America and some live in India
What did you learn about yourself and your own work habits?
I can do projects faster than I thought.
How well do you think you did as a collaborative group?
I think I worked fine. I think I could have worked a lot worse and we all worked well.
Would you do something like this again (why/why not)?
I would definitely do this again. It was allot of fun and it was a great way to spend an ICT lesson.
What changes would you make if you ran things?
I would change it so we could all communicate more. I don’t know much about the other two schools and I would also change it so we were more organized, like making the website only on endangered animals or only on oceans.

I would like to still learn lots of stuff about the Indian and the American school

I learnt how to use Scratch and Kompozer to make my website
How well do you think you did as a collaborative group?
I think we did a good job of communicating between the different schools but it would be nice if the Indian School would come in a little bit earlier
Would you do something like this again (why/why not)?
I wouldn’t because i don’t really like to do websites but i like to make silly games
What changes would you make if you ran things?
I would change nicenets image or the web pages Because it doesent look attractive enough like some social network pages like FACEBOOK or SKYPE

What did you learn about your partners?
What I learned about my partners is that, even though we live so far apart, we are still alike and unalike in many ways. I enjoyed working with the groups.
The group from India had many inspirational theories, and it was fun to meet the group from USA, my homeland, and know that despite the less fortunate living in both places, I was able to talk with others who had the better fortune.
What did you learn about yourself and your own work habits?
I learned that when I get a script for a scratch project/game, I can quickly change it to a certain theme/topic. I learned that I can complete a project in a period or two, given enough time and working productively.
I think I worked well in this project.
How well do you think you did as a collaborative group?
I think we did well. I learned so much from the others, and it was great and interesting to discuss topics, hobbies, interests and ideas with people so far across the globe. Not only was it fascinating, it was a great learning experience.
There were many students who knew a lot about web design and website creating, far more than I knew. It was great to work with some more experienced/knowledgeable pupils who would do the job well while knowing what they were doing.
Would you do something like this again (why/why not)?
I would do something like this again because it was so much fun and very interesting meeting so many different students. That was one of my main highlights for GVC.
I would also do it again because with so many participants, lots of good quality work gets done, pleasing all.
What changes would you make if you ran things?
I would change the GVC website a bit. Maybe scratch projects and word documents could be shown somehow without having to follow a link or open a document, and then information could be viewed quickly and conveniently.
But overall, I think things were ran well.

I would not call it nicenet I HATE NICENET BECAUSE IT LOOKS BORING MAKE IT COLOURFULL YOU LAZY PEOPLE

It was hard to work just me and than we need the to working with partner.

No.Because I don’t like Nicenet because its so old and you can`t but any pictures or videos.

What did you learn about your partners?
I am in junior high school. Sometimes, I go on lesson to primary school. It is a big school.

I like history and I think than I am good. Art is fun too, and peoples like my pictures.

I am better in solo work , but sometimes I like more teamwork .
